Mr. Root\u2019s primary responsibility is to raise capital for Brookwood\u2019s various fund, separate account, and co-investment offerings from high net worth individuals, family offices, wealth managers, and select institutional investors. \u201cBrad brings a tremendous amount of client relations and capital raising\u00a0 experience to Brookwood, having spent the better part of the last two decades cultivating relationships with sophisticated investors across a variety of investment and fundraising platforms,\u201d stated Greg Papazian, Brookwood\u2019s Managing Director and Director of Retail Sales.\u00a0 \u201cHe has a proven track record of developing tactical, long-term business relationships and we are excited to welcome him back to our firm.\u201d Mr. Root was one of Brookwood\u2019s original employees when the firm was formed in May of 1993.<\/p>\n
The expansion of Brookwood\u2019s retail sales practice mirrors the firm\u2019s growth over the last several years.\u00a0 Since re-entering the market in 2010, Brookwood has acquired 8,401,327 square feet of real estate worth over $1,200,000,000 and has expanded its staff to 109 employees located in 24 offices across the United States.\u00a0 Brookwood has also recently launched BW Gas & Convenience Holdings, LLC, d\/b\/a Yesway, a new gas station and convenience store chain with locations in Iowa, Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma and with expansions underway in the Midwest.<\/p>\n
Prior to rejoining Brookwood, Mr. Root was the Chief Operating Officer of the Newton Institute and Center for Serving Leadership where he was responsible for business development.\u00a0 Prior to this, he was the Chief Operating Officer at the Anglican Church in North America where he played a key role in the founding of the international headquarters for the unification of 1,000 Anglican congregations across the United States, Canada and Mexico.\u00a0 Mr. Root was responsible for all fundraising and capital formation and also served as the Chairman of the Finance Committee.<\/p>\n
